Steam Iron Price Croma and Vijay Sales: Rs. 619 to Rs. 12,599, Sept 2026

We read both steam-iron shelves on the afternoon of 11 September 2026 — 21 listings at Croma and 25 at Vijay Sales — and seven irons appear on both. Two of those seven do something worth stopping for.

The Bajaj MX 45 is Rs. 2,099 at Croma and Rs. 1,899 at Vijay Sales. Both listings badge it exactly 50% off. The badges agree because each retailer entered a different list price: Croma states an MRP of Rs. 4,180 and Vijay Sales states Rs. 3,800, and half of each is the price each charges. The Bajaj MX 3 Neo does the same thing at a different number: Rs. 1,269 against Rs. 2,430 at Croma and Rs. 1,099 against Rs. 2,100 at Vijay Sales, both badged exactly 48%.

Sort either shelf by discount and these two irons look like the same deal. They are Rs. 200 and Rs. 170 apart. A discount percentage is the ratio between a price and a number the retailer typed next to it, and when both retailers type a number proportional to their own price, the percentages match and tell you nothing.

Across the seven matched irons Vijay Sales is cheaper on five — by Rs. 40 on the Havells Stella, Rs. 170 on the Bajaj MX 3 Neo, Rs. 200 on the MX 45, Rs. 330 on the Morphy Richards Super Glide and Rs. 500 on the Havells Husky. That last gap is 14% of the price.

Croma wins one, and it is the instructive one. The Havells Athena 3000W is Rs. 4,759 at Croma against Rs. 4,890 at Vijay Sales — and Croma's badge is 32% against Vijay Sales's 39%. The chain claiming the bigger markdown is the dearer one, because it states an MRP of Rs. 7,999 where Croma states Rs. 6,999. This is the single clearest case on the page for ignoring the percentage.

One is a dead heat. The Philips 1750W ceramic-soleplate iron with a 250ml tank is Rs. 2,399 at both chains, against the identical stated MRP of Rs. 2,795, badged 14% at both. Same price, same list price, same percentage. When Philips sets a price, both retailers hold it — which is not what happens on Bajaj, Havells or Morphy Richards.

Vijay Sales is the broader and slightly cheaper shelf. It runs 25 listings from Rs. 619 — a Bajaj Majesty dry iron, the cheapest iron on either shelf — to Rs. 11,999, with a median price of Rs. 1,899 and a median badge of 31%. It carries eleven Philips listings and seven Havells, and a meaningful part of its cheap end is dry irons rather than steam ones: the Havells Aquilla at Rs. 899, the Havells Hawk at Rs. 1,299 and the Nova Plus at Rs. 1,060 do not steam at all.

Croma runs 21 listings from Rs. 749 — its own 1200W steam iron — to Rs. 12,599, with a median of Rs. 2,099 and a median badge of 27%. Its house label is the distinguishing feature: four of the 21 listings are Croma's own irons, and they include the deepest badge on either shelf (58%) and the shallowest (6%).

Croma also carries the strangest pair on either shelf. Two Croma irons are both 1600 Watts with a 210ml tank and a 360-degree swivel cord, both state an MRP of Rs. 2,000, and they sell at Rs. 849 and Rs. 1,149. The listing text differs only in the colour name. The cheaper one averages 4.1 stars from 26 ratings and the dearer one 2.6 from 38.

Twelve of Croma's 21 listings and 17 of Vijay Sales's 25, covering the full range of each. Croma's table carries the star average and rating count as displayed; Vijay Sales's does not, because there is nothing to carry.

Note how thin Croma's review data is even where it exists: eighteen of its twenty-one irons show a star average, but only five of those eighteen have ten or more ratings behind them, and several show 5.0 stars from a single rating. The two figures worth anything on the shelf are the 4.1 from 64 ratings on a Rs. 1,359 Usha and the 1.8 from 10 ratings on Croma's own Rs. 749 iron — the cheapest and the worst-rated listing on either shelf.
